Project Update: Danks Street South Masterplan Transport Study

From late 2015 to mid-2018 PeopleTrans worked with the City of Sydney to prepare a Masterplan transport report to support the planning proposal for the Danks Street South precinct in Waterloo. In the future, the area is likely to be home to 3,000 residents and 130 employees as well as contain increased public open space for the local community.

As part our engagement, PeopleTrans undertook a Masterplan transport study to assess the impact of the proposed development on the nearby transport network and provided feedback to the project team regarding the pedestrian, cycle, public transport and road network. PeopleTrans also modelled the key intersections in the study area using Sidra to estimate the future imact of the proposed development.

To inform the future parking rates, PeopleTrans surveyed four nearby residential developments. These rates were used to provide an evidence base to support the proposed car parking and traffic generation rates which documented the impact of the proposal on the surrounding road network.

Over 4 years of involvement in this masterplan project, PeopleTrans worked closely with the City of Sydney planning and transport teams and developed a strong understanding of the public transport facilities, people movement trends and land uses of nearby suburbs and along the major corridors within the City of Sydney.

In December 2018, the planning proposal and development control plan were approved by the City of Sydney bringing to a close a lot of hard work by the project team.  For more information, please visit https://meetings.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?Id=826.
