A new 10m high warehouse, offices, a showroom and a basement car park was proposed to be constructed to replace an existing warehouse at 293 Princes Highway in St Peters. There were 3 stages of construction which we had to look at which were demolition, excavation and construction.
The construction site is located at the northwest corner of the very busy intersection of Princes Highway, Canal Road and Mary Street in St Peters.
PeopleTrans was commissioned by Smith & Tzannes in November 2017 to prepare the construction traffic management plan (CTMP) to satisfy the relevant conditions of the development consent and to support obtaining the construction certificate for the development.
Constrained by the adjacent road network, the site access for construction traffic was provided via Mary Street and a Works Zone was also proposed on the frontage of Mary Street to cater for the activities associated with excavation and construction of the site, which effectively required the closure of one lane of Mary Street from the intersection of Princes Highway/Canal Road/Mary Street. The development of the CTMP was informed by discussions with Inner West Council and the RMS Traffic Management Centre (TMC).
The construction traffic management plan (CTMP) included the following elements:
- A vehicle movement plan (Including swept path analysis of key truck turning locations)
- Review of impact on the surrounding road network
- Review of impact on public transport services
- Review of impact on pedestrians & cyclists
- Implications for emergency services
- Works zone layouts/requirements
- Road Occupation Licence requirements
- Traffic control plans (for general traffic & pedestrians) prepared in accordance with RMS Traffic Control at Worksite Manual June 2010 V4 and AS1742.3-2009.
The CTMP was presented to Inner West Council and TMC for in principle approval. Construction started in August 2018 and will be completed shortly. If you would like us to help get approval for your next project, please contact Alan Stewart on 02 8226 8760.
