The Turramurra Community Hub Masterplan has won the Australia Award for Urban Design, Policies, Programs and Concepts – Large Scale at the recently announced Australian Urban Design Awards for 2016.

The PeopleTrans team played an important role in developing a transport plan which could not only support the scale and type of development proposed in the masterplan but also to support the anticipated future development in the immediate Turramurra surrounds identified in Ku-ring-gai Council's LEP. There is potential for the Turramurra Town Centre to support an additional 3,100 new residents and 200 employees in the future.  An AIMSUN microsimulation traffic model was developed which replicated the existing operation of the road network and was used to assess the development impacts during the PM and Saturday peak periods. The challenges of developing the transport plan included the current high levels of congestion on Pacific Highway to the north and the assessment of a “with and without” rail bridge scenario connecting Ray Street & Rohini Street.

PeopleTrans also provided Chrofi traffic engineering advice related to vehicle access, separation of uses and how best to deal with loading and garbage collection for the development buildings.  The advice was used to inform the development of the building footprints, road widths and the best locations for access to different uses.
